been looking for this a long time, thank you good price
I have the autel ds708 it's very complet but for my shop and for fast simple engine diagnostics the AL519 is great!
This tool is great for the money, it lets you track real time data, and it helps diagnose the problem. It is however limited to one sensor at a time. You can record multiple sensors, and download this information, but it would be helpful if it could be tab or comma delimited, for easy import into excel and graphing multiple sensors.
This unit works well. Plug it in, turn key on and wait a minute, and codes show up. This unit has a battery so you can remove it from car and plug into USB port to power it and read codes inside. You may need a code book for some codes, I got the Haynes book. or look up on internet. very handy tool.
I purchased this tool to help troubleshoot OBDII codes which were causing the Check Engine Light to show up on my 2004 BMW X3. The tool was able to not just read the trouble codes but also provide tips on how to fix them (the first one on their list of suggestions proved to be the root cause of my trouble code). It can not just read trouble codes, but will also provide the "freeze data" with all engine parameters at the time the trouble codes were raised. The tool allows you to reset the trouble codes as well as provides live data view (with all engine params operational at the time) which may be recorded (up to 3 sessions each few minutes long) and reviewed later (even printed on your Windows PC). Another handy feature is that it can run a so called "readiness" test that displays the status of all monitors in your car in addition to any permanent/pending trouble codes which gives you a piece of mind before leaving for the smog test to renew your vehicle insurance. Because of this tool I got hooked up in doing car maintenance myself and now have much better understanding of principles and techniques used in vehicle maintenance.
First off, thanks for such fast shipping 2 days after ordering! The color display, layout, and usage just don't get better for this price range. Wide range OBD mode support, easy to read and understand color display, built in speaker, freeze frame, live PCM DataStream, and a six-foot cable. The scanner even graphs data on 96 and up. You get a great amount of bang for the money spent. Having used 509's and Harbor Freight 509 clones, they are nowhere near the capability and OBD compatibility this model offers even though they are close in price range. I am very pleased with this scanner and would definitely recommend it as a solid value to anyone.
I found this to be a very good scanner, especially for the price. The most important parameters pop up on the first screen, and navigation is intuitive through the menu. An information selector button (?) deciphers the cryptic symbols used in automotive technology. The graphing function is more than you may ever need for common repairs, but this is nice to have in case a problem gets tricky. Furthermore, this feature on other brands will cost you a lot more. The owner's manual is a little sketchy on details. I couldn't download the first update, so I had occasion to call the folks at Autel. The manual did not give the correct website to go to, but once the friendly people at Autel pointed me in the right direction, the download was a snap. And that's another good thing about this scanner, the fact that is updateable while others in the same price range are not. I'm still learning to use all the features. So unless you are operating a repair garage, it's probably more than you'll ever need.
I have only had it a week, but hooked it up to my car and it gave me the codes, told me exactly which o2 sensor was bad, what was wrong with it, and possible fixes. I was given a code read by two different auto parts stores which said both sensors were bad. I was also told by a mechanic that it was both sensors & a vacuum line code. This saved me some money on this one repair. (98 accord ex) It also showed me a evap code and told me where and fixes. I replaced the gas cap & sensor, cleared the codes, and no problems since. This is a high end unit at the lower end price. I will write more review updates later as I start working on my other two cars. (200 expedition & 97 Malibu). The only down side to this is there is no battery backup to see the unit while not hooked up to the computer or car. That doesn't bother me at all though.
I have hooked this product up to everything from an '05 Subaru STI to a 2013 Hyundai Genesis coupe. Links up great with no issues whatsoever. VERY happy with this purchase and would purchase it again in a heartbeat. I'm a die-hard PC-scanner based supporter. However, I wanted something relatively cheap that has similar capabilities but doesn't require a laptop. This fit the bill perfectly.
Scan tool has a long hookup cable that makes it easier to use then scanners that come with short cables. The clear well lit screen is easy to read. The tool itself does a great job and linked to the on-board computer quickly. Comes with a fabric storage case, software cd, manual, 5' OBD2 cable and usb cable. Solid tool that provides a lot of bang for your buck.
